MDMA-Assisted Therapy for PTSD

Dr Mat Hoskins was the Principal Investigator for a Phase 2 Open label study of MDMA-assisted therapy for PTSD which treated the first patient in Wales with this novel approach last year. He was joined by co-therapists Dr Neil Kitchener, Dr Julie Dorey and Miss Chrissie Wilson. The study was sponsored by the Multidisciplinary Association of Psychedelic Studies (MAPS), and American non-profit research advocacy group and the results will be published in due course.

Recent research has found that MDMA-assisted therapy is a safe and effective intervention for severe PTSD, but it remains a heavily restricted drug. We hope that research carried out at Cardiff and at our sister sites across the EU will improve the quality of the research investigating this novel treatment approach.

Please note, we are unable to respond to expressions of interest in future research.
