The Perinatal Workstream is working to improve access to effective evidence-based psychological therapies for people who experience trauma and fear of giving birth in the perinatal period. It is doing this in collaboration with health board leads and the perinatal mental health steering group. The membership of the group comprises health visitors, midwives, neonatal staff, and people working within voluntary sector and health services.
We are developing a perinatal trauma pathway that is underpinned by the principles of trauma-informed care. We are developing more effective transitions between services within the pathway, as well as increasing the capacity of specialist and non-specialist health services to provide effective interventions that are matched to the needs of the individual.
Further information on the work of the assessment and outcomes workstream will be published on this page as it becomes available.
